Watch Out For Who You Drive With!
Early this morning was another reminder of why it is so important that we be careful who we ride with.
A person was killed and two were injured in a car accident between a sedan and a St. Petersburg Times delivery truck on US-19 just after 2:00 a.m. this morning, police said. Apparently, the Ford Crown Victoria, carrying two passengers, crossed over the median and struck the Times truck. When authorities arrived, the sedan was upside down, and the truck was on its side. The driver and passenger in the sedan had to be extricated from the vehicle, officials said.
One person who was in the sedan was confirmed dead at the scene at 2:27 a.m. The Times truck driver and another person from the sedan were transported to Bayfront Medical Center with serious injuries, according to emergency officials.
As a passenger of a vehicle, you have little control over how the driver will operate the vehicle. That is why it is so important that you don't get into a car with someone who has been drinking or may be impaired (it has not be determined if alcohol was involved in this morning's car accident). You are putting your life in the driver's hands. Make sure you trust those hands!!
If you have been injured as a passenger, you may have a multitude of claims against the driver, the owner, and even your own automobile insurance policy. You should talk to an attorney before talking to the insurance companies. Insurance companies have attorneys working for them--so should you!!
