Nineteen deaths from car accidents and 66 alcohol-related car crashes. That is what the Florida Highway Patrol reports occurred during the 72-hour period on July 3-5, 2009.
In addition, during the same period of time, the Florida Highway Patrol wrote 4,548 speeding citations, 1,928 safety belt-related offenses, and made 98 DUIs arrests. Troopers also assisted 2,443 motorists. Click here for the complete Florida Highway Patrol press release.
These are numbers just from the Florida Highway Patrol. It is certain that the local police agencies also made similar numbers and reported other car accident related deaths and alcohol-related car accidents.
Drive safely and watch out for those who don't. Look left-right-left whenever you are making your turns to avoid a car accident. Don't text and drive. Pay attention to those who aren't paying attention.
