This weekend should be filled with fun, friends, food and remembering those that have and continue to fight for our freedom. It should not be tainted with a car accident or DUI charge. Be smart this weekend and avoid a car accident.
Again this year, AAA Auto Club South and Budweiser will offer free tow rides to motorists over Memorial Day weekend May 28-31 under their "Tow to Go” program. This program provides a confidential ride home for both the impaired driver and his/her car. You do NOT have to be member to use this valuable service. Rides are available by calling (800) AAA-HELP so program this number into your cell phone before you begin the weekend celebration.
An automobile accident can be avoided if you use a designated driver. A few ways to thank your designated driver include the following:
- Cover the cost for parking or pay for a tank of gas. It would be cheaper than injuries from a car accident or an attorney for your DUI charge.
- Pick up the tab for your driver’s food and drink.
- Offer to get the car detailed after the party.
Be smart and enjoy the holiday weekend! However, remember, no matter how safely you drive, there are those drivers that put themselves (and thus you and your family) at risk. Watch out for those drivers. They could cause a car accident involving you or your family.
