A hit and run accident puts a 14-year-old in the hospital in critical condition.
According to the Tampa Bay Times, the crash occurred last night just before 10:00 pm at the intersection of Ulmerton Road and Seminole Boulevard. The teen was on his bicycle, crossing the intersection at a designated crosswalk, when the truck crashed into him and sped off, police said. Police asked for help finding the driver responsible for this crash.
The vehicle that caused this crash was described by witnesses as an older-model full-sized pickup truck with a roll bar and yellow lights on its roof. According to the reports, the vehicle is dark in color and likely has damage to the driver's side front end. Anyone with information has been asked to contact the Largo Police Department at (727) 587-6730.
Accidents happen, but we need to take responsibility to our actions. I don't know what was in the driver's head at the time of the crash, but it is hard to believe how anyone could drive off after hurting a kid.
