According to the Huffington Post, a 32-year-old North Carolina woman was killed last week seconds after taking selfies and updating her Facebook profile immediately before the accident. According to the article, the woman updated her Facebook status with "The happy song makes me HAPPY." Officials reported that the Facebook text happened at 8:33 am and the police received the call about the car accident at 8:34 am. The police department added that the woman was also taking pictures of herself while driving.
This car accident should serve a reminder that fatal car crashes can happen in seconds when the driver is distracted. Not only is it against the law in Florida to text/post to Facebook while driving, it is also very dangerous and simply should not be done. Sadly, this woman's friends and family are not happy all because the woman wanted to alert them that she was.
Drive safely and watch out for those who don't.
